Language Research in the South East Queensland Region

Many communities have had to begin rebuilding their languages after their last fluent speakers passed. In these circumstances, wordlists, recordings and historical documents form the basis of the new beginnings.

The national repository for Indigenous cultural material, including language resources, is AIATSIS – The Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, in Canberra.

Where possible, SEQILC has retrieved relevant material from AIATSIS and made it available on this website. Click below to view resources about languages of South East Queensland.
